Meet the instructorsPractical Application Groups instructors have over 68 years of combined military experience and 30 years of combined firearms training experience. We have instructors federally certified in the instruction of reactive and survival shooting applications; as well as, CPR, AED, and National Rifle Association Range Safety Officer certifications.

  • Curtis Childree

    NRA Chief Range Safety Officer, CPR/AED certified, 20-year veteran of the U.S. Army, 15 years as a firearms instructor and currently work in the firearms industry. I started teaching during my tenure in the Army. I am the graduate of multiple shooting and self-defense courses. I spent my last eight years in the Army as an OH-58D Pilot. Prior to my retirement, I co-authored a Privately-Owned Weapons Mentor-ship Program still in use by the military today. After retirement, I along with the other instructors created Practical Applications Group to continue providing practical solutions to the community’s firearms training needs.

  • Jeffrey Westbrook

    United States Army Veteran stationed at Hunter Army Airfield with 1st Ranger Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment. I have a range of knowledge from being an Artillery Forward Observer and Infantryman, armory supervisor for a privately-owned firearms manufacturer, and government funded training as a security contractor. CPR/AED, and NRA Range Safety Officer.

  • Daniel McLeroy

    Lifelong shooter and outdoor enthusiast. I started teaching firearms safety through the BSA in both rifle and shotgun. I have previously served as range master and small arms armorer. Currently working in the firearms industry as an engineer, where detailed understanding of mechanical forces and its effects on the operator are directly correlated to the bio-mechanical techniques we train. I am CPR/AED certified, NRA Range Safety Officer, and shoot competitively in IDPA, USPSA and 3 Gun. I joined Practical Applications Group in 2017 and look forward to seeing you out on the range.

  • Tim Fischer

    NRA/RSO and 14-year veteran of the United States Marine Corps. While in the Marine Corp I served as the rifle team equipment repairman/gunsmith, as well as, a primary marksmanship instructor. I have been a firearms instructor and gunsmith for over 35 years and I am currently in charge of a precision rifle program for a major federal agency. I look forward to bringing my knowledge and experience to the team and continue to provide practical solutions to our community for their firearm training needs.
